HR Florida: Putting HR trends into practice

August 21, 2018

Conference season will soon be upon us.

Each year, spring and fall brings many events for HR professionals to choose from. In my line of work as an analyst, I go to my fair share, and then some. But, having so many available means that I need to be selective about which ones are the most valuable. I spent my career as a practitioner budgeting my time and money at events in the same way.

I plan to kick off this conference season with one of the best out there: The HR Florida Conference & Expo.

What is this event and why is it special?
Well, the HR Florida State Council, a state affiliate of SHRM, has been putting this show on for many years. In fact, this year it the 40th anniversary! It will be held August 27- 29 at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Orlando, FL. But it’s not great because it has one of the best locations and weather, although those are a huge plus! What makes it great is that it is one of the most forward thinking events in the HCM and HR industry.

When I first attended nine years ago, social media was cutting edge. Most organizations and HR professionals were either ignoring it completely, or scared of what would happen allowing social media use in the workplace. HR Florida took a completely different approach. They embraced it. They brought in bloggers and social media experts to have the hard conversations about the use and impact of this new medium. They offered sessions and networking with people who were actually having success using social media for business. It was energizing to see how they looked past the momentary concerns and provided some real-world examples attendees could use to make their organization more comfortable with the new trend.

Fast forward to today and when you look at the schedule, it’s no different in their approach. HR Florida is still offering sessions around the must-have compliance, data and HR basics. But they are also providing a dive into how some of the most current trends are impacting our workplaces. Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, pay trends and more. And have I mentioned keynotes? Their past events never disappointed and this year they have upped their game. Check out these keynotes:

If you’re in the market for a new technology solution, they have that too.  Their expo hall will have vendors with all types of HR solutions.  So come by and see the latest and greatest.

So, if you’re looking for a great way to spend a day, or 3, come join me at HR Florida.  For more information and to register, click here: HR Florida Conference & Exposition.
