Help Me Blog: Your Best Memory from 2010

Originally posted: December 31, 2010 on TrishMcFarlane.com

It’s New Years eve and I am not going to fall into the trap of predicting anything.  Last year I joked about it when I used my Magic 8 ball to make the predictions.  This time around, I think it would be more fun to share one favorite memory from 2010 and I want you to join me.  It can be:

personal

professional

funny

sad

ironic

It can be whatever you want to share.  Make it a short sentence or a long paragraph.  I just want to hear all the best that 2010 had to offer us collectively. Now for the hard part….what is my best memory?  I’ve had many fun and memorable times this year, but the best single moment in time took place in September and has to do with being really proud of someone else.

I was at my son’s first tykes football game of the season with most of my extended family.  It was one of those great fall days with just a touch of chill in the air.  The boys were all excited to put the weeks of practice into play and the tykes cheerleaders (including my daughter) were already shouting words of encouragement to the boys.  The game got going and I could tell that Jack was excited.  How?  He kept waving up at us in the stands after every play.  Thank goodness he’s seven and not seventeen! Suddenly, a run play started and my little boy had the ball.  He ran, he turned, he serpentined through the boys on the opposing team.  Then, in a flash he was free of the group of boys and headed to his first touchdown ever!

I was that mom standing up and cheering him on at the top of my lungs along with his sister and the rest of the crowd.

Best moment ever!!

What’s yours?
